Two Pakistani women get married (First time ever)

Two Muslim women of Pakistani origin get married in the UK and apply for political asylum claiming threats to their lives.

Rehana Kausar, Sobia Kumar

Rehana Kausar (34 yrs) and Sobia Kamar (29 yrs)- two brave women defied death threats when they tied the knot in a register office civil ceremony this Sunday.

Witnessed by their solicitors and two friends, the couple wore traditional white bridal dresses as they got married in Leeds, West Yorks. The pair, from the Lahore and Mirpur regions of Pakistan, immediately applied for political asylum after the ceremony, claiming that- their lives would be in danger if they returned to their native country (Pakistan).

Both women said they had received death threats from various organizations in Pakistan - where homosexual relationships are still illegal and are considered against the rules of Islam.

The Pakistani law does not recognize same sex marriages and there are no ways to stop this discrimination.
